Cool movies/docs for a night on the couch
The TV is increasingly being replaced by YouTube and Netflix. Because we want to decide what we watch and when we watch it. Long live the millennials? And we are becoming more conscious too. We want to know where our food comes from, what it does to our bodies, but also the impact it has on our environment. And where do we come from, what is the meaning of life, how does it all actually work? Long live the internet where we can truly look up everything that interests us! But what do we want to watch? Well, we know some fun movies! We are often asked if we have any interesting movie tips. Yes indeed, we do! A lot actually! Not that we never watch cheesy romantic comedies or series on Netflix (guilty), but we also love munching popcorn during a good documentary. So we’ve made a neat list of them. A Plastic Ocean
Plastic does not degrade; it remains in our environment forever. But what happens to it, where does it end up? Even though we were already quite aware of the effects of plastic on our health and the environment, this film really provided an eye-opening moment again.
True Cost
A documentary about the story behind our clothing industry. Here we want clothing to be cheaper and something new more often. But how much does it really cost to produce, and what is the impact of our rapid consumer society on people in the countries where it is produced?
What the Bleep Do We Know
When energy can be converted into matter and our thoughts are energy, can our thoughts shape our world? What is reality and what is not? This film is about quantum physics, spirituality, and neurology. A bit vague, but certainly stimulating material for thought!
Minimalism
Could it be that we become happier with fewer things? In this film, inspiring people talk about how they discovered that ‘more’ does not always mean ‘better.’ This film has made us more aware of our consumption behavior.
Embrace
Are we all unconsciously influenced by the media’s image of the perfect woman with the perfect body? Aren’t you beautiful or good enough if your stomach isn’t perfectly flat and your skin isn’t perfectly smooth? Even though we surely know that perfect photo is just photoshopped? The perfect movie to remind you that appearances aren’t everything, and that there’s not just one form of beauty.
Heal
A documentary about the power of the mind. Fascinating film featuring Joe Dispenza and Anthony William, among others. An inspiring film about the power of our thoughts. That there’s much more than what we can perceive with our eyes or imagine with our minds. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t there. After watching this doc, you’ll think twice before thinking anything…
