How Acidified Is Your Body and How Can You Deacidify?

If you answered ‘yes’ to one or more questions, there is a good chance that your body is acidified. ‘Acidified?’ I hear you think. That’s right, a body can become acidified. And it sounds just as unpleasant as it is. If your body is acidified, diseases can develop more easily, you may sleep poorly, have a higher risk of hair loss and skin problems, but also diabetes, gout, kidney stones, osteoarthritis, and rheumatism. Fortunately, there is also good news: you can fairly easily restore the balance in an acidified body.

An easy and effective way to rid your body of toxins (acids) while simultaneously replenishing with the necessary minerals is to do a good detox. How do these acids form?

“When we are born, we consist of 70% water and 30% trace elements. As we age, these amounts decrease in our body. Acidic waste comes in their place. These arise from improper nutrition, medication, intense and frequent exercising, and an unhealthy lifestyle (such as smoking and radiation). Many waste products are eliminated by our body through excretory organs. For example, through the skin and bladder. However, our body cannot eliminate all of these waste products. There are simply too many. Acid residues then remain in the body. The more acid residues, the more acidified your body is,” according to deacidification expert Peter-Ohms.

Actually, it is very logical. If you exercise, your body becomes acidified; this acidification is the muscle soreness you feel. It is important to keep your body’s acid balance in check because, in an acidified body, diseases have a better chance, and vital enzymatic activities cannot take place effectively. Healthy eating (lots of greens) and detoxing does exactly that; it helps to remove waste products (acids) from the body.

How do you know if your body is acidified?

“You can classify the symptoms of an acidified body into two levels. A moderately acidified body may suffer from fatigue, joint pain, hair loss, low energy, and skin discomforts. A highly acidified body goes a step further. You may struggle with disorders such as gout, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, and eczema,” says Peter-Ernst.

“It is impossible to completely counteract acidification,” continues Peter. “We live in a Western world where radiation, medication, and processed foods have become common terms. However, you can help your body in its fight against acidification. It starts with testing your acidity. You do this with pH strips. These show the acidity of your body. The rule here is: a pH value between 6.5 and 7.0 is perfect. A pH value between 5.5 and 6.5 indicates moderate acidification. With a pH value between 4.5 and 5.5, we speak of a high degree of acidification.”


How do you keep the acid balance healthy?

  • Eat green (leafy) vegetables daily. We do this by making a green smoothie or having a salad for lunch or dinner.
  • For a green smoothie, we use a teaspoon of green (superfood) powder from Green Juice, for extra minerals (= extra alkalizing).
  • Eat lots of vegetables and fruits! In breakfast (oatmeal or smoothie bowl), during lunch, dinner, and as a snack. Strongly alkalizing vegetables include asparagus, cauliflower, broccoli, zucchini, peas, spinach, lettuce, cucumber, and red cabbage.
  • Take a bath with mineral salt. A bath or foot bath with a scoop of this salt gives you an instant zen feeling, makes your skin baby soft, and helps your entire body to eliminate waste materials. Perfect after an intensive workout, when you want an extra detox, or you feel cold or flu-like. We use MeineBase mineral salt.
  • Drink plenty of water. We drink at least 2 liters a day, preferably filtered water. And with a drop of essential Lemon oil.
