Healthy Mexican in the Foodhallen
Have you ever been to De Hallen? The trendy hotspot of Amsterdam West. With a cinema, delightful creative shops, and of course (our favorite) the foodhallen! It’s truly buzzing with activity every day. There are so many different stalls with food & drinks, all gathered in one large hall with tables and bars. Yes, that means you can enjoy (vegan) nachos while your companion is eating Vietnamese spring rolls. Or you can simply grab small bites everywhere! Oh, and you can also choose whether you prefer gin and tonic, wine, or a green juice. I can already hear you thinking; help, decision stress! No worries, we’ve done some preview work and can make a good suggestion: FENTO.
The female entrepreneur contemplates it
Mexican food with an Asian touch. And a great focus on the healthy twist (without compromising the taste). The founder Hilary (the only female entrepreneur in the foodhallen!) is American and has lived in Mexico for a long time, hence her love for Mexican cuisine. Which, she says, lends itself perfectly to creating healthier (and vegan) variations.
So it’s well-thought-out. The meals are put together by a nutritionist and with the help of a sustainability expert. So you can be sure that the food is as healthy & eco as possible. For example, the mushrooms come from Amsterdam Noord and they’re working on their own vegetable garden so that soon almost all ingredients will be completely local! And extra tasty.
What can you eat? Well-filled burritos, incredibly tasty nachos, salads, and juices. It’s best to go here with several people, so you can order and taste the whole menu. Oh, and when you’re there, ask if they have the chocolate-chili balls. These are too delicious to resist.
