100% natural without chemicals and nurturing for the skin
They go quickly when you have a baby, the diapers and wet wipes to clean the buttocks with. Fortunately, there are more and more wipes on the market that are not made of plastic and do not contain perfumes and other chemicals (not so nice for the baby), but you do have to search for them if you want them. Also, you can’t avoid that the packaging (whether or not made of recycled) is made of plastic.
Easily made
For on the go I use pre-made wipes, but at home I do it differently! I have soft fabric bamboo wipes from Happy Naps. Of course, you can also use an old rag that you cut into pieces. I wash the wipes with the washable diapers. Want to know more about washable diapers? You can read about it in this blog.
To moisten the wipes I use a wonderful homemade spray. Nurturing for my baby’s buttocks with ingredients including coconut oil and pure lavender essential oil. Super easy to make in a refillable glass spray bottle!
TIP: Put a nice label sticker on it where you write down the ingredients so that you can easily refill the spray when it is empty.

Coconut oil
Use a liquid neutral coconut oil, also known as MCT oil. Coconut oil contains lauric acid, which is known from studies to have an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect. It has a healing effect on pimples, but also on minor irritations and injuries.
Witch hazel
Also called witch hazel in Dutch, made from the witch hazel shrub that grows a lot in Asia and North America. Witch hazel has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties among others, which can help care for irritated or damaged skin. It also contains flavonoids that protect the skin against free radicals.
Vitamin E oil
Vitamin E contains a lot of antioxidants and nourishes and cares for the skin. I have added it to this spray because it also helps to ensure that the spray does not oxidize (go rancid) as quickly.
Lavender essential oil
Pure lavender essential oil naturally smells wonderful. The scent has a calming effect, but lavender also has a calming and soothing effect on the skin. It contains a lot of antioxidants and works great for minor irritations or redness of the skin. Make sure with essential oils that you use a 100% pure oil (there are many oils on the market that contain chemicals!) from a brand you trust. I use the oil from the brand doTERRA.
Filtered water
I fill the spray with water. For this I use filtered water, so the spray stays good longer. If you don’t have a water filter, you can also boil water, let it cool down and refill the spray with it.
