Healthy, plant-based, and gluten-free eating in the land of pasta, pizza, and ice cream? In Milan, it’s a breeze. Gabriëlle spent a weekend in Milan and enjoyed gluten-free pizza, vegan ice cream in a gluten-free cone, and a three-course menu of culinary plant-based dishes. Oh, and the burger with fries was not to be missed.

Vanilla Gelati Italiani – Via Pattari, 2, Milan
Just around the corner from the famous Duomo, you’ll find an ice cream shop with vegan ice cream and gluten-free and vegan cones! Because, of course, you can’t visit Milan without having ice cream. Not even in January.

Mantra Raw Vegan – Via Panfilo Castaldi, Milan
Absolutely my new Milanese favorite restaurant: Mantra Raw Vegan. This restaurant is super clean in design and often packed. Go for an Acai breakfast or choose a lunch/dinner consisting of, for example, raw vegan pumpkin ravioli with pine nut cheese. And then the desserts! Raw brownies, cheesecakes: it just doesn’t stop. You can also leave with a fresh cold-pressed juice in your hands. What’s not to love?

Flower burger – Viale Vittorio Veneto, 10 or Via Vigevano, 6, Milan
In the mood for a burger with fries? I was, too. I went to Flower Burger for the Tofungo (unfortunately without a gluten-free bun) with smoked tofu, tomato, and mushrooms. And fries with vegan mayo, of course. Also on the menu: black and pink burger buns with various types of burgers and vegan cheese. Perfect if you’re craving a quick, yet filling meal. Oh, and the price is also great, with burgers ranging from a minimum of €6.50 to a maximum of €9.50.

Juice Bar – various locations
In Milan, it’s almost hard not to stumble upon a Juice Bar. There are at least five in the city. And here you can get a well-filled sandwich or a breakfast with coconut yogurt or an Acai bowl (which is somewhat watery, though).
More vegan in Milan? There are a few other vegan restaurants in Milan, and if you’re looking for gluten-free pizza without cheese, you can find that in this city too. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to visit everything. Do you have any fun Milan tips for us? Let us know!
